I agree with vidimide . You are a walking living breathing testimoy of what a life of Christ is ... healing , restoration , peace and love . Praise God !
Lord I thank You for getting Rick through this year . Lord God I pray that he is completley healed . I pray his health is fully rstored , that the HIV remains undetctacle as does the Hep. C Lord use this man for Your glory for Your honor and for Your praise .

Today, I finished the last of the oral meds, praise God. It'll take 2--3 months to clear my system and for about a month will take 3 weekly shots of procrit to prevent anemia. But, the actual high toxidity pegasys and ribavirin dosing is no more.
Went to a healing service today, was annointed by a pastor & given annointing oil for daily annointing.

MIA OR AWOL ???? In case anyone noticed I haven't been posting much since Fri. I had an acute "cout attack" & literally couldn't walk, my dr. on call I advised I go via EMS to a Brooklyn Hospital,I was in Sun. morning & walking by Mon. & discharged this afternoon. I get these severe gout attacks every few years & does not require surgery, etc. but intensive medicating,often w/ new meds temp.added, and testing until able to be mobile again, in a few days I could probably run a mini-marathon (but praising God today, just to be able to walk to corner store w/out a cane, etc.)

Thanks all/need a few more prayers... I've had a setback in the meds worked fantastically at 3, 6 & 9 months, no test at twelve mos. & then the treatment ended.
It was all undetectable, but it is possible that the HCV hid in some fatty liver tissue; I will see my liver specialist next week-but we really can't do any biopsies, etc. for a few months as the meds need to flush my system.
I am still trusting in God; he has the "blueprint" for all of our lives. Amen ???

Hey Rick, it's been a while.... I caught up on your posts and am so glad that the treatment went better for you this time around. I am still praying that the results of the treatment will find you well and healed. What will be your next marker, what specifics can we pray about for you in this moment?
I have not kept up with my blog about the treatment, things have been a little crazy with it all. I'll explain more on my other post. Much of it has involved my insurance switching me to a mail-order pharmacy which has been a fiasco. I know I should be thankful to even be receiving the treatment, but the quality of care has been horrible. I know I will come through this fine whatever happens, but my concern is for the people or the elderly that are too sick to speak out when they are bullied by their insurance companies. I have twice received bad meds after a whole four shipments (that's about 50%), and have been run around on the phone so much. I'm sooo tired. I just keep wondering how I would feel if it was my brother fighting AIDS or my sister fighting cancer or my mother doing chemo... what if they were being given bad meds so their insurance company could save money? How many people are too tired to be run around on the phone and just take it till it compromises their health or kills them? I can speak up, but it is heartbreaking to think that so many people can't and no one cares. And all too often family and friends yeild to the machine.
But despite all the added stress, I have been able to continue functioning as normal. Still no nausea -- PRAISE THE LORD! I am so thankful for that. Several other side effects, but Christ continues to give me the strength to press on. My white count keeps dropping and I have taken few full doses.
I think one of the hardest things is having people forget that I"m even on the treatment, and then they get frustrated with me because I'm not able to keep up with all their demands. I resorted to finally getting a handicap decal for the days that my energy bottoms out. I have refused it for so many years, but it has begun to interfere with my ability to keep up with the needs of my teens and family. It still bothers me, because I feel like there are so many people worse off than me , so I only use it if there are other spots available for others who are sick.
I landed in the hospital recently because the treatment caused some of the materials that broke down to block some of the blood vessels in my colon (they think) and they ruptured. I have suffered alot of pain in my life, but I never remember throwing up repeatedly from pain... until now. I was passing blood, the docs were in a panic, my family thought I was dying, it was horrible. And the comment I heard from almost every family member and friend was, "I forgot you were even on the treatment." That's not really their fault, because I work hard to not remind everyone about it. It weighs on people when they know you aren't feeling well. So I seldom talk about it, I just seek God to help me keep up. And he remains so faithful.
I even have trouble sometimes with family and friends parking in a handicap spot for me. Their comment is usually, "I don't want to park there, because then people will look at me and scoff that I really look like I'm handicap."
... only recently I responded for the first time, "but I am, and I live with that scoffing look every day that I struggle to keep up."
It's like drowning and everyone around you staring blankly or screaming at you for it.
But God has used Hep C to teach me such a compassion for those who suffer. He has taught me to stop being so self-centered and to focus on the signals in people that they are drowning or in pain or needing someone to risk embarrassment so they can function. Not only have I learned so much, and how thoughtless I have been in life, but my children have watched me learn such things and it has affected their walk as well. I thank God for that. I thank Him that in every challenge and every trial and every flaw within ourselves... he will bring good things to bless many when we call upon him to help us and to change us.
Sorry to ramble so much, and I"m not as down as this may sound. It has just been a rough month, but I'll be laughing about it all in my next breath. Such is life... I seem to be saying that alot lately as God continues to teach me to accept the things I cannot change and to trust him with it all. He is faithful to bring order from the chaos, and blessing from the pain <3

Dear Forum Friends:
I will be brief but am badly in need of your ongoing prayers; been having labwork, a sonogram, etc. as post-liver meds treatment.
It appears that the reason the liver meds failed was due to a FATTY LIVER and the virus hid out. And also as a possible side effect I have PRE-DIABETES per my talk this afternoon w/ my liver specialist.
I will see a dietician in a few weeks to change diet & continue to be followed. Meanwhile pray please that the liver damage & pre-diabetes will miraculously REVERSE.

PS-Although my attempt was not successful I encourage in addition to prayer, annointing by the elders, etc. that if your dr. suggests pegasys that you consider it..& am willing to communicate further on this in confidence.

Lord Jesus, watch over our friend and keep them close to you through these times of fear, and uncertainty. Lord you know our hearts. Please see into them and heal them. Mold us into the people you would want us to be. Please give our friend the strenght to use this opportunity to witness to others in the same situation. Help our friend fight the fatigue and weight loss. Feed this soul o Lord with daily bread and purifying love.

Hey Brooklyn, I haven't been on the forums in a while. Just wanted to touch base and see how things are going. Good to hear that the anemia was much better back in June. How did the test results go, and is there anything specific that we can be agreeing in prayer for at the moment?

Am ready on Thu.Nov. 8th to take MRI of liver & pancreas.2 Recent blood tests (AFPs) showed me in a "cancer range"; those can be thrown off due to my hep. c---praying that this MRI & a yet to be scheduled liver biopsy will show NO CANCER!Also need healing of hiv, liver and lipo.
Here's what an abnormal AFP though can mean: In men, nonpregnant women, and children, alpha-fetoprotein in the blood can mean certain types of cancer, especially cancer of the testicles, ovaries, stomach, pancreas, or liver are present. High levels of AFP may also be found in Hodgkin's disease, lymphoma, brain tumors, and renal cell cancer.
Please pray against all of the above above possibilities from the lab tests and believe w/ me that a PRAISE REPORT IS IN THE WORKS.
