Castro likes Clinton-Obama ticket's odds The Washington Post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- August 29. 2007 12:16AM Days after rumors of his death swept the internet, Fidel Castro mused about the U.S. presidential election in an editorial published yesterday in the Communist Party newspaper Granma. Castro wrote that there is "talk of a seemingly invincible ticket" pairing Democratic Sens. Hillary Clinton of New York and Barack Obama of Illinois. And he said candidates "are now immersed in the Florida adventure," a reference to the battle for votes in a state that is home to hundreds of thousands of Cuban exiles. Castro, who said he was writing to "increase the consciousness of the Cuban people," made no mention of Obama's remarks last week that he would roll back Bush administration policies that restrict the number of family visits Cuban-Americans can make to the island and the amount of money that can be sent to relatives in Cuba. But the Cuban leader did mockingly write that Obama and Clinton, both Democrats, "feel the sacred duty of demanding 'a democratic government in Cuba.' They're a terrorists dream too; but many dems worry about my jr. senator: quote:
Worrying About Hillary by Robert Novak Posted: 08/31/2007 Many of the Democratic congressmen who ousted Republicans in marginal House districts last year privately express concern about the impact on their re-election prospects if Hillary Clinton is nominated for president. Because of the strong possibility that Sen. Clinton indeed will be the party's candidate, these congressmen will not openly express their fears. But they dread her impact from the top of the ticket. Clinton's opponents don't raise the question in public. But there is such underground talk in Iowa, the state opening the battle for convention delegates, questioning her "electability." http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=22185

Would Bin Laden Vote Democrat? By Ben Shapiro President Bush and Osama Bin Laden, says leftist blogger Josh Marshall of TalkingPointsMemo.com, “are tacit partners in creating the world in which we now live.” Bush’s focus on Bin Laden has heightened his credibility, says Marshall; in doing so, Marshall continues, Bush has turned Bin Laden into a larger-than-life figure. This is a rather roundabout argument. Bin Laden orchestrated the most devastating attack on American soil in the history of the United States – there is no doubt that Bin Laden became the most prominent terrorist in the world the moment Flight 11 hit the World Trade Center on September 11. If Bin Laden has tacit allies, it is clear from his most recent video statement that those allies reside in the Democratic Party, liberal academia, the Hollywood jet-set, the leftist blogosphere, and the international anti-globalization movement. http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/challenges.php?id=1330902 Yep not only Fidel but the terrorists would love that combo or maybe Mr. Bumpersticker-the Breck Girl!

Brooksie, is this your own private thread? Well, Castro has stayed in power nearly fifty years at the doorstep of his # 1 enemy. He will die in office. So, I guess his advice has to be taken seriously, though I expect the Clinton camp has already considered the idea as have many dems. Like it or not, it sounds like a formidable ticket.
