I don't. I don't remember the last time I bought a CD, so it's been at least a couple of years ago. Last summer I gave away every CD I owned, just to get them out of my house. I'm wondering when the CD industry will shift from offering all music on CDs to only offering special releases, extended collections, special artwork, etc. on CD. (If it will.)

I feel so guilty, but I don't either. I used to collect CD's the same way someone would baseball cards and after 16-years, I had quite a collection (around 4500), but I too got rid of all mine after uploading the tracks I really wanted to my Itunes and now it's all digital downloads for me. I had a funny conversation with a friend the other day who said, "You know, when our kids have children, they're not going to know the fun we used to have looking at album covers for hours in the record stores before we made our purchases. They're going to walk into a music store, whip out their thumb-drive, pay the cashier, and walk away with a few new tracks that they heard on the radio!" Sad to say, I think he's right. With the way the world moves so fast now-a-days, the digital revolution in music is the most preferred method.

I purchase classical CDs and vinyl. Downloads of classical music cannot compare; aurally flat. Recent pop or rock I download a song or two but rarely the whole offering. I haven't sold my CDs or vinyl yet.

I also quit buying CD's as I have a subscription to both Napster and Rhapsody. I do remember the old days of going to record stores and getting the new tapes then on to cd's and opening up the credits and reading all of the inside details and lyrics... where is all of that stuff going now??? Mmm... oh well...

I buy most of my music on CD, rather than digitally. I like having the physical collection still. Growing daily.

Absolutely. Two reasons, (1) I like having the liner notes, even if I need a microscope to read them. Most downloads don't come with the liner notes; and (2) I rip my cd's at a higher bandwidth than I can get from a download, giving me a better sounding file.

I buy cd's too... I just like having them... though I know I've bought more this year than I have in the past 10!

I buy CDs and then put what I want on my iPod. It was fun spending hours in record stores as a kid.

I don't have room with all my 8-tracks and reel to reels.

I hope that never happens.I still buy cd's and prefer them over digital downloads. It seems funny that when it comes to visual technology (television) they are trying to improve quality, yet things seem to be going in the opposite direction for sound quality.

<ridiculously in your face opinions>i find this music donwload garbage to be the stupidest, most idiotic thing ever perpetrated in the history of... thought. i've bought a couple of digital eps and what not on itunes... but its just inane. "ooohhh look at my record collection!" *throws over an ipod* im sorry kid, thats not a record collection. thats a bunch of 1s and 0s you downloaded and payed money for. they way i see it.. if im going to download something.. and have absolutely nothing to show for my purchase... i have torrent for that. why pay for a download, when im not getting a cd anyway? might as well do it illegally and save the money. if im going to spend money on music... i buy records. i buy cds. i buy cassettes. its a physical tangible proof of my purchase. i just don't get how itunes even turns a profit. and i dont, UNDERSTAND, why anyone would choose mp3s over an actual physical cd. i have about 1000 cds, and is always growing. and i woudl never sell them. or gove them away. i'd sell my wife before i sell my cds :P heh.</ridiculously in your face opinions>

yes, i do and i can't ever imagine not buying them for all the reasons already listed by others ... higher quality, artwork / liner notes, i like having an actual physical thing if i am actually paying for something. not to mention the fact that i just enjoy shopping for them, i like going to the store, digging around through the cds, flipping through the vinyl, talking to the people working there about music. having the cd is good, but the actual shopping for it is also a huge part of the whole music buying experience for me and that's definitely not something you can get from downloading.

We stopped because of the RIAA lawsuits. When they started that I believe we may have bought 5 or 6 tops in the following years and all but one was a present. We don't buy much music but we've bought 3 since they announced the lawsuits were ending.

I don't ever buy anything digitally. Unless I just want one song or something. I like to buy the real cd so I have lyrics. I just like to have to actual cd.

Still prefer CDs. Better sound quality for the most part and I have older vehicles which don't have mp3 jacks.

I too still buy the physical cds. As a dance leader, the physical cd sounds better for presentations than mp3s and when we do go other places, not all of them have the set ups to play digital music...nursing homes for example.
