Do all pap test check for HPV? I'm so confussed and should call my Dr. to ask, but ... Every time I see that commercial for HPV I ask myself if my Dr. checks for it because it seems like it's a seperate test? I assume that when when you go for a pap it the smear will say if you have Hpv or will give a reading of bad cells. Maybe I'm just having duh moments.

I don't know if having a smear test will include a HPV test too. However, HPV is a sexually transmitted disease so if both husband and wife were virgins when they married and have stayed faithful, there shouldn't be a cause for concern. Even if this wasn't the case, repeated tests shouldn't be necessary unless there is ongoing infedelity.

The headaches, I would describe debilitating(good word, agapetos). They begin on the right side of my face, with pressure behind and around the eye. This lasts first two days, then the pain is all over. Sensitivity to light and sound I discovered, oddly enough, was first felt in the hospital during the er visit. Never knew hospitals were so loud and well lit til then ! The pain from the headaches spikes my blood pressure of course, which then causes a worse headache. Also i have nausea, but Ive not yet vomited. It is a very ugly cycle to say the least. This has happened three times in the couse of almost 8 weeks. Today the headache is gone like it never even happened. If I was a betting woman, I would say within the next two days I will begin my period .

Make an appointment to see your doctor. I had thought that you'd already seen a doctor but from a later post you said it was a PA.

Heres what happened... 4 days into this last "episiodic headache", I called the clinic (I've no insurance but have been patient there for 8 yrs with chronic back pain) and was told I had appt. this past tuesday(by now it is 7 days into this), went there and was told my appt. was actually for another "clinic" 50 miles away, so they rescheduled me for Thursday. Within 2 hours of being home is when I got so sick and went to hospital. Thursday FINALLY gets here(9 days into this ), I go to clinic and am told Dr. not in, but PA is..... I was given pain med. to use and an appt. in month to "see" if I have had another headache.... That's where I am at today. And, ya know, if I keep on thinkin about it, I am liable to get another headache . I have always had PMS but have never had the headaches. Guess its yet another part of being a woman and the blessedness of aging...I seriously don't know.

I have an appt with gyno on July 16, I am flooding again and I just want it stopped. I can't continue doing this, I never know when I'm going to start (went 2 months without this time), I can't feel comfortable going anywhere when I'm on because of the fear of flooding, going through ultra tampons every 2 hours...just want to not ever have a period again.

I think I need a nap...I read this as

I have an apartment with a gyno....what?

and Memaw...I completely understand. Ny best friend experienced what you are and had a hysterectomy.

Not sure if that's really the answer, but it was her choice to do so.

LOL doink!
I misread things all the time and am like...what??
Hopefully gyno won't suggest hysterectomy, but I'm thinking that a endometrial ablation could be the answer. I had an endometrial biopsy last year and all of that was normal (the GREAT FLOOD OF 08) and since then it has been heavy heavy bleeding...may not have one for 3 months but when I do..whoa Nelly!
I just turned 47 and the more I think on it, the more I am convinced that I am sick and tired of periods.
We aren't going to have any more kiddos so there's no need in going through this anymore.
Yep, I'm done and doner.

Melissa,

I get headaches every month, related to hormones. I get them a few days before my TOM and a couple days after. Mine aren't as bad as yours, but they start out the same way, and do sometimes last for more than a day. Getting more sleep and drinking more water help for mine.

flowerz, have these headaches plaqued you longterm or no? This is something that began almost eight weeks ago for me. I feel like it is hormone related but I suppose I will not be diagnosed as such atleast another month AND after another headache . That just stinks to me, I dont want another headache like I've been having......

Yes, the headaches have been happening for years. Had one yesterday, but was able to keep it from getting too bad by taking pain killers early on, at the first hint of the pain.

Hey, another Melissa on the boards. Hi, Melissa!

My last visit from you-know-who was May 30th, so I hope she stays away for a while. However, I've noticed a pattern just before she comes:

1. I eat like a pig (without lipstick, LOL!)
2. I get irritable.
3. My digestive system goes into "dump" mode.
4. I gain about 4 lbs of water.

Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Yep, in fact #3 on your list was my main signal that she was coming for a visit.

I found out the other day that urgent care centers do provide the shots for the fullblown migraine. This will save a bunch of money in the long run. I'm seriously considering at some point, not treating the headache at the first sign, seeing as only Excedrin works & I'm only treating rebounds at this point. I will go ahead & allow the full blown migraine to occur & have it treated. After that, when the first sign of a headache occurs, I will document time, etc. in order to fully understand what is taking place at onset of the true headache. From there, I should be able to determine course of treatment. Constantly taking Excedrin has to end.

Hormones seemed to be a factor more than 20 years ago, but when I started Excedrin, I totally forgot about it. I have focused on it being sinus related for a long time & that may not be the source at all. k

I was period free for almost a year, then it showed up June 30. I am NOT happy. And it's lasted a week. Before when I actually had one every month they would only last 4 days.

I was so close to being just done. Now, who knows?

That is me. I also cannot take artifical sweetners. They seem to trigger my migraines.

Poor hubby. We were set to have a romantic weekend and then it came. The flow. After a couple months of nada. I hate this not knowing when it will come

I feel like my hormones are fighting against me, like my body is not my friend anymore . These headaches are a killer. I can not seem to recover from one when WHAM I am hit again. Please be in prayer for me. I've done some research on perimenapause, hormones, migraines and this all just stinks to me . Is it true you can be in perimenapausal stage for 10-15 years BEFORE menapause ????

Me too. Every time I go for my yearly gyno exam he expresses surprise I am not in full blown meno.

Kath, I believe it was u that I read in a post back in 2007 that u didnt want to have to take hormones. Has any of that changed? Doinkdom, it might have been both of ya'll actually posting during 2007 not wanting to be put on hormones but I can't remember why you didn't want to. Was it the potential health risks or no? Just wondering.

My doctor told me that hormones would be a last resort temporary fix for me. She wanted to wait until I was "this close" to having my periods stop before she put me on them. She babbled about risk this and long-term that...I have melanoma and family history of breast cancer, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.

I have obviously blocked out that traumatic experience from my memory - no hormones indeed .

No, I won't take hormones. I'll just ride it out. I read two books back in the 70s that really stuck with me, Women and the Crisis in Sex Hormones, and Our Bodies, Ourselves. After reading those two books, I went off the pill and decided then and there to never use hormone therapy.

I'm going to try cutting out sweet-in-low & just drink sweet tea for awhile, see how I do. I'm exercising in the mornings now & believe this helps some too. k

I don't believe I'll ever have to take hormones. I've been using natural progesterone for a few years now & it seems to be all I need. I hear this stuff works from pre all the way through post & beyond. Once you start this you won't need anything else. k
