unless you are in TN then it's a "twang"....lol. Believe me, there is a big difference between the twang and the draw....I have both in my accent because of my parents being from TN and me being mostly raised in TX.

LOL, I forgot about twang!

OUCH! I'm no Yankee!

I cook with gas and grill on our gas BBQ grill. My car runs on gas and my dog has gas after eating leftover beans. Good music and things that are fun are 'a gas'. I've never had a problem understanding which gas we're talking about, either.

Are you old enough to remember "Classical Gas?"

Me me! I remember. Mannheim Steamroller did a version with him a few years back too. It was good but not as good as the original.

I LOVED Cat Stevens when I was a young teen! Was so sad when he "converted" to Islam. I'd actually never heard Banapple Gas before!

Texans have a drawl (think Matthew McConaghy)

NC, TN, VA and parts of WVA have twangs.

Other southerners just add syllables to stretch out their words, which is why people think we're slow.

Here, true Charlestonians speak with a colonial southern accent. Leftover from it's founding, real Charlestonians pronounce most words funny. Nobody understands them.

Mine changes...depending on if'n I'm around family. I actually get more of a deep twinge (instead of a twang).

When I'm around my husband's family, I tend to talk slower cause they all talk so fast! Boston accents and really really fast. They make my heart race with all the fast talking, so I talk slower just to keep my heartbeat down.

Classical Gas was released in 1968. I graduated high school in 1969 so YEP.

I'm from Georgia and I say Drawl and white and roof correctly.

I was wondering what sugary squash is. Is it a drink? I believe it's quantity was given in Litres (did I spell it like I'm from the UK? )

I saw it on a BBC America TV show this afternoon called "You Are What You Eat." It was mentioned in passing in a list of other "bad foods."

Squash is a fruit-based liquid concentrate, sold in bottles, which you dilute with water to make a soft drink. It contains colour and flavouring (might be natural or synthetic) and preservative(s) plus either sugar or artificial sweeteners.

The amount of actual juice content varies from product to product, the dearer ones containing the most actual juice.

LOL!! Yes you did (the ones who can spell, anyway!)

We are a strange bunch - we can't quite make the change over to metric, and many of us still use imperial (as well as a bit of metric, lol)

Is Imperial the same as English Standard? That's what we use here... but I have enough education to know that a Litre ( ) is a liquid measurement... even if we do normally spell it wrongly.
