What's the best way to get fresh grape juice out of carpet. The juice is purple and the carpet is a light grey, low shag.

Don't have any or time to go shopping (a birthday party here in a few hours.) Don't have any borax, white vinegar or clear dish or laundry soap either.

What about inkpen? I didn't see that someone had dropped a broken piece of a pen on the floor, so when I vacuumed, it smeared it into the rug. I remember something about using hairspray to get it out of clothing... not sure if that would work. I'm short on cash, so the more natural and economical the better... (BTW, this is a rental and I don't want the owner to try to charge me to replace the carpet!)

4IM and Roberta ~ you may both want to look into this. I've just bought some though haven't used it yet, but it does seem to have pretty good reviews. I suspect if you do some searching you'll find some sites where you just need to buy one tub or at a cheaper price.

If it's really bad, look for a van going down the highway that has painted on the side: carpet installed, call.....
Call the number and see if they can cut it out, use a piece out of a closet to iron a patch, and use the closest color scrap they have to replace the closet.

The stain is out. My neighbor came over with some stuff called "Wine Out" and it seems to have done the trick.

Go to Home Depot's flooring dept. and ask them where the "Capture" is. It's a dry cleaning product for carpet that gets out most any dirt. It comes in a kit with a pre-spray and a brush. They also make a spot cleaner. A friend who has been a professional flooring mechanic/salesman for more than 20 years recommends it.

Is there any easy way to get black grease out of a carpet? The last time it took time and effort until it apeared to be out finally. I suppose nothing workds easier than that on grease.

The problem with this is the detergent will leave a sticky film that will just attract more dirt. I'd say try steam cleaning it.

Ok, looking at the white wizard I mentioned earlier... it says it works on reappearing stains.
It also says that it works on grease.
A word of caution about steam cleaning. My mother (who isn't the most reliable of people) said that she tried to steam clean her carpet a while back and it burnt it. I suspect she may not have followed the instructions properly, but if you do try it, take care.

I have a spot of orange on my carpet where we brought in a grocery bag of liquid dayquil. Since I was the sick one I didn't pay too much attention to where things were put. Apparently one of the kids stepped on the bag with the bottle in it and orange dayquil got all over the carpet.

Zoe - how long ago did it spill? I'm not exactly sure of the ingredients in Dayquil, so it's hard to say how you should clean it.

You may be best to wait and then get something that will work rather than try and scrub it out and make the stain worse.
