So, since I got no reply in the legalistic "Halloween is evil" thread, I figured I would do the American thing and start my own thread!

Is anyone else super-excited to carve pumpkins? Aside from Xmas festivities, pumpkin carving is one of the funnest times of the year in my family! Looking forward to visiting the pumpkin farm and corn maze, the kid's laughter, eating some caramel apples, smelling the pumpkin guts, getting slimy hands, baking seeds, making some pies... love it!

So, what is YOUR favorite thing about Halloween and Harvest time?

I voted "All of the Above!". Halloween and Fall in general are just highly enjoyable times for me.

Normally on Halloween (since becoming a parent), I have taken my kids to one of the large churches in our area which put on a super-fun indoor night of costumes, games, candy, jumping inflatables, games, and general good fellowship.

We also love to get a group together to go to a local pumpkin farm, one which is also a corn farm complete with annual corn maze (this year it is a cool 'Wizard of Oz' maze: http://www.fritzlermaze.com/ ), hay rides, pumpkin and corn cannons, ginormous inflatable jumping pillow, and various other fun stuff.

Then, it is pumpkin carving, pumpkin seed roasting, caramel apples, hot choco, and general good times! Once in a while we head up into the Rockies and look at some of the gorgeous Aspen transitions.

I loves me some Halloween and Fall!

I couldn't do multiple votes so I voted "All of the above!" I don't know what it is but I get super excited and energetic in the Fall. I LOVE the crisp air and the colored leaves and the apples and the pumpkins and the autumn color scheme. I love how blue and clear the sky gets and how beautifully the sun shines through the fall foliage.

Everything to do with Autumn and all that goes with it (including Halloween ) makes me happy and thankful that I live in such a beautiful area and that I know and can appreciate and participate in the customs and traditions of my progenitors. This is the BEST time of year!

Oh! Happy Halloween to you, too!

I voted for other, but I should have probably voted for all of the above, too. I love all those things, but my absolute favorite thing is that I can finally turn my air conditioner off and let my house air out.

Candy's a year round thing, so I voted for the sights and smells, although I could do without the ragweed and goldenrod pollen that put my allergies into overdrive.

Caramel Apples. Must have them...yum...yum.

Problem is my son didn't appreciate it when I ate his Caramel Apple. Silly boy he should of eaten it before he went to bed. Nope he left it there on the coffee table for me to see in the middle of the night when I was up because I couldn't sleep and oops...ATE! Got rimmed for it the next day.

I live in a very agricultural area of northern Colorado. We have a ton of farms that grow huge pumpkin patches every season. One in particular, Fritzler's Farm, boasts the country's biggest corn maze (I don't know about this year), each year having a different theme. This year's is the anniversary of the Wizard of Oz and the maze is the Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow (from an aerial view). They also have a ginormous inflatable (either a dragon or a dead giant), jumping pillows, bungee stations, corn cannons, pumpkin cannons this year (!), and lots of carnival-style snacks and goodies (funnel cakes, coffee, hot chocolate, etc). And, of course, the kids get to take wagons out into the pumpkin fields and pick out some pumpkins.

We take my boys every year and will be making this year's visit this weekend. I'm just as excited as my 6-yr-old!

Even though I don't like cold weather, I do sort of like the onset of fall in other ways. I do like seeing all the yummy fall foods come out. I like seeing the leaves change colors. I like getting to wear something different than my summer clothes. And we are getting closer to peppermint mochas and cranberry bliss bars at Starbucks.

There's someone in the office in a strapless red sequin gown with a tulle bell on the end, high heels, a long curly red wig and lots of makeup. Oh, yes, and a red evening bag.

I asked someone "Who's that?"

It's one of the men I work with.

Now is this a full time gig with him?
