Did you know that if your a little down and out, you can start smiling and before you know it, you will feel better? Same way with our attitudes about the seasons. We can change our minds by finding the good that can come from the holidays and this year could be one to remember above the others.

christmas is my favorite time of teh year. i love christmas movies, christmas songs, christmas decorations, i love everything about christmas. especially the commercial aspects of it. i'm a christian, and i know jesus is teh reason... but man do i love the food and music, and movies, and tv shows, and lights, and trees, and huge gawdy lawn ornaments of santas and frosty's riding ATVs through a snowglobe. i love going to the mall the last saturday before christmas and watching people go nuts. i love circling teh parking lot for 5 hrs just so i can get a parking place in the north 40. i love walmart black friday sales and watching people kill each other for a dvd player. lol. i just love the whole thing. and i get so sad to have to pack it all up very january =( wish it lasted longer.

Ah yes - Chanukkah! I just found a Hanukkah Harry hat!!! (actually it is a santa type hat for Dallas Cowboys fans) Just gotta get that blue star off of it. We have a decade-old tradition of meeting my wife's sister and her husband in Williamsburg VA for the black friday sales.

I feel that way when I turn on the radio on October 26th and they are playing secular "holiday" music about Santa Claus and Jack Frost

I like santa songs. They're fun to sing.

Hello WW and everyone else with or without the bah humbug! As some of my feelings about the Holidays have changed over the last couple years, I would like to see those of faith become informed about the feasts observed by some believers from Leviticus 23 as they point to our LORD and Savior, and then come to our celebrations with a sense of enrichment for having learned these were not hum-drum dry occasions, but actually are or were festive occasions.. They were "time outs" from the day to day and "time in" to commune with God and others of like faith. I feel empty when the church at large continues to observe Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter and never, never, never acknowledges the existence of the Spring and Fall feasts. My kids have very little sense of appreciation for a Redeemer but appreciate the X Box, the gift certificate from here or there, and I don't think it can be changed as they are 17 and 19 years of age. So, yes, I have the bah humbug, and would that it were otherwise but cannot deny what's on my mind.. I will listen to Sounds of Shalom.com and UCB Canada come December to try and keep this bah-humbug at some semblance of balance.. Would be fun to meet at a Bread and Chocolate for coffee and commiseration! By the way, I have a blog that deals with some of the above and everything else. http://graftedinandonthejourney.blogspot.com. Holiday regards to each, David

Hello WanderingLamb It has been said that depression rises around the Holidays, especially Christmas time. Reason? Well, Jesus came to earth with the message peace on earth good will toward all men, or people. Now if one believes that there is a spirit world with Satan battling the Holy Spirit, then it isn't hard to see what's going on. So, I think our best approach is to look at Christmas as the birth of Jesus, or the day that God became flesh and dwelt among men. And He is still alive today. So it's best that we understand that Jesus is the reason for Christmas.

I've been changing the way I celebrate my Christmas (don't do Halloween and definately don't do Thanksgiving!) over the past few years. I got fed up with the commercial aspect of it long before I became a Christian. Not sure where I'll be spending Christmas. My family live too far away for me to spend the day with them (and they're not Christians) and I may/may not spend Christmas with friends. I have plans (yes, already) for what I'll do if I spend Christmas at home though.

I love Christmas trees and ornaments, love to watch the tree at night all lit up and the lights all over the house off and its dark and the tree is the only thing you can see. Don't have any and I mean any money for presents but so what I can still enjoy the season and I always bake a couple batches of cookies that only get baked at this time of the year. And I love having the family together.
